Welcome to the Kickstart FC
Website.
Welcome to our new web site and
the new 2009/2010 season.
We have some great things in store
for this year and the future plans are really
exciting.
JULY - 34 players went to The
Score Showcase Tournament in Greensboro, North Carolina with over
150 College and University recruters attending. What an exciting
week we all had. The players that went played outstanding and we
had nothing but compliments about them and their attitude. Ten of
our players were singled out and now they have their work cut out
to get their grades up so they can get a chance at a scholarship
possiblity in USA. We are really thankfull to Dustin Fonder, the
Head Mens Coach at High Point University, for inviting us to see
round the Univestity and all it has to offer. It was the icing on
the cake to a fantastic tour. I would like to thank all our
sponsors and hard working parents plus the coaches who helped put
it together.
AUGUST - We were fortunate enough
to have four coaches over from Dawlish Town in Devon, England.
Dawlish Town in a semi-Pro team with their own field, Sandy Lane,
and Club House, see their web site - http://www.dawlishtownfc.co.uk/. Derek Spence sat down with
me and we worked out a three year plan for Dawlish to help us not
only in coaching but in getting players opportunities to play in
the UK. Thanks Derek, Adam James & Lee. They are looking to
come back in February 2010.
OCTOBER - Tony, Barry and Tom
being hosted by Dawlish Town to go to Devon to take some Coaching
Coures plus get some experience with football at Semi-Pro and Pro
levels.
NOVEMBER - Tyrone and Prince go up
to be hosted by DawlishTown and go through the same program. Also
going up will Raheim Sargeint and Elsid Miggins who have been
chosen by Dawlish Town for trials and we wish them all them
bests. I know they will do KickStart proud.
Kickstart FC welcomed coaches from Dawlish Town AFC in
England at the beginning of August for group and one to one
coaching sessions. The coaching staff were headed up by UAFA B
Coach and Dawlish Town`s Football in the Community Officer Adam
Shearer, working along side James Spence & Lee Fenner who are
both FA level two coaches. Further links with both clubs were put
into place with Dawlish Town General Manager Derek Spence who is
also a qualified FA coach who came over for the tip, three
Kickstart Coaches will be leaving for the UK in October to gain
their level one coaching qualification at Dawlish Town, with
another two following in Novemeber. Derek Spence was so impressed
with the standard and attitude of the Kickstart team that it was
decided to take two of the club memebers to the UK in November
along side the Kickstart Coaches to play and train at Dawlish
Town. The week was ended with a game against Stars and Athletic
by a joint Coaches & Parents team.
"Hopefully these two boys
will be the first of many, Commented Dawlish Town General
Manager, Derek Spence. "We were so happy with the response
from all the boys who attended the coaching sessions and the way
they applied themselves that we decided to take them now instead
of next year when we had planned. The attitude of all the boys
was excellent and the ability surprised us all, it was hard
choice to pick two, but others will no doubt follow as we have
put together a two year plan with Dave Porter which includes
bringing other boys over to train and play at Dawlish and to get
their Level Coching qualification. The younger boys at the
training were showed true potential and the coaches are looking
forward to training with them again, their attitude and aptitude
was excellent. All of us would like to thank everybody at the
club for making us feel welcome during the trip and we look
forward to returning at the start of the new year.
Dawlish Town
will be hopefully returning in either January or February as soon
as the start date for the new season is confirmed, to work with
the teams preparing for the new season. Further detail from the
visit will be posted on the web site soon.
